10 Responses If You Are Not “The One That Got Away”

The term “the one that got away” is tricky. It sounds romantic, given that time and circumstances endured can’t stop two people from loving each other. But if you look at it from another angle, it can also be quite harmful. Imagine two people who love each other dearly, forced to move on because no matter what they do, they can never be together again. What happens to the people they love next? Is it acceptable to know that the person you love has someone who “got away”, and that certain somebody isn’t you?

We gathered 10 women and asked how they would feel if they found out their partner told them that they had someone “that got away”:

“Honestly, I’d be hurt knowing that I’m not ‘the one’ in his life. It just so happens that whoever that girl is, is the one that ‘got away’.” – Angela, 21
